2026 Call for HE SIG Board Member Nominations
We are seeking three colleagues to join our HE SIG board as HE SIG Co-Chairperson, Program Co-Chair, and Secretary/Treasurer. All three are elected positions for two years, starting in June 2026 and ending in June 2028
SIG Co-Chairperson (one position available, June 2026-2028):
There are two Co-Chairpersons responsible for coordinating and monitoring all the activities of the SIG. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, representing the SIG at SIG meetings during CIES annual conferences and when solicited by CIES; communicating with the CIES Secretariat; coordinating and keeping track of the activities of the SIG-elected and -appointed officials and committees; preparing reports for the SIG business meetings at the CIES annual conference; managing the SIG finances (including oversight for SIG expenditures and revenues); and looking for new endeavors and projects for the SIG.
Program Co-Chairperson (one position available, June 2026-2028):
The HESIG Program Chairpersons’ main responsibilities are mainly associated with the CIES annual conference. The Program Chairpersons receive the proposals from the conference organizers and make arrangements for the peer-reviewing process; organize highlighted and regular panels and related sessions with the accepted proposals; communicate with the conference organizers to indicate the results of the evaluation of proposals; and plan the agenda, along with HESIG Boards (Handbook for CIES SIG Chairpersons 2013, p. 2).
Secretary/Treasurer (June 2026-2028):
The HESIG Secretary is in charge of writing business meeting draft agendas and minutes at CIES annual conferences and managing and updating the SIG listserv. The Secretary is also in charge of taking attendance (through signing sheets) during HESIG business meetings, which is used in reports to the Secretariat. Likewise, the Secretary is responsible for updating listservs or another group email service and social media selected by the HESIG, creating and sending communications to the HESIG members, including newsletters. The position includes drafting budget proposals, managing purchases, and requesting reimbursements and payments. This position is available for graduate students.

Full name
Position (e.g. Associate Professor)
Affiliation (institution, country) (e.g. University of Chicago, USA)
Confirm that they are a paid member of the HE SIG in 2025. All members for election should be a paid 2025 CIES Member and a paid 2025 member of your SIG. If they are not a paid member, they will need to join via cies.us
Short candidate bio (100 words max) that can include your current position, affiliation, professional/research experience, and other relevant information.
Short statement to include in the ballot (100 word max). This can cover how you have been involved with the HE SIG and why you want to serve on the board in this role.
A photo to include in the ballot.
